This autumn as Hiba Tawaji and Ibrahim Maalouf take the stage together for a brand new show, À La Française, on 27 November. Presented by Live Nation Middle East, the one-night-only performance brings together two of the most celebrated artists of their generation for an evening inspired by French musical heritage, reimagined through their distinctive voices and styles.
À La Française is a unique artistic dialogue between Tawaji’s powerful, emotive vocals and Maalouf’s genre-defying trumpet and compositions. Blending classical influences with jazz, chanson and contemporary sound, the show promises an intimate yet expansive live experience, set against the iconic backdrop of Dubai Opera.
Ibrahim Maalouf is one of the most popular instrumentalists in the world, described by Jon Batiste as a “living jazz legend” and praised by The New York Times as a virtuoso. A two-time Grammy Award nominee in 2023 and 2024, Maalouf has performed sold-out concerts at some of the world’s most prestigious venues, including Lincoln Center in New York, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and Paris Arena Bercy. A prolific composer and producer, he has released more than twenty albums and composed numerous film scores, earning a César Award and multiple Victoires de la Musique honours. His collaborations span an extraordinary range of artists, from Sting and Wynton Marsalis to J Balvin, A$AP Rocky and Angélique Kidjo, with whom he released the acclaimed album Queen of Sheba. Beyond performance, Maalouf is known for his innovation, activism and cultural impact, cementing his status as a global musical ambassador.
Hiba Tawaji has been a leading figure in the Arab world since 2008, widely admired for her remarkable vocal range and artistic versatility. In 2024, she marked a career-defining moment by performing under the baton of Gustavo Dudamel with the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra at the reopening of Notre-Dame de Paris, an event broadcast to millions worldwide. Her career includes collaborations with Andrea Bocelli, Lara Fabian, Florent Pagny, Luis Fonsi and Pentatonix, as well as historic milestones such as becoming the first female artist to perform in Saudi Arabia in 2017. She also voiced Jasmine in the French version of Disney’s Aladdin and starred as Esmeralda in Notre Dame de Paris.
